Fall Lookbook

Here at Porch Light Studio fall is easily our favorite season. I love the cooler temperatures that allow for slow simmering soups, weekend evenings ending around a campfire and best of all layers added back into the wardrobe. A quick browse through my "Better Than my Gym Clothes" Pinterest board gives evidence to my love of prints, denims and cardigans paired with comfortable booties and a statement necklace. We've taken the guess work out of fall shopping by collecting some of our favorites to freshen up your fall wardrobe. Bonus: Everything we've featured can be mixed and matched, consider this your fall capsule wardrobe that will easily transition you into winter as well.

Chambray, navy, olive and grey easily mix and match.

An olive green vest is the perfect layering piece this fall, it's an easy mix with denim, grey or navy and fun over prints like stripes or gingham. (Shown: Nordstrom hooded puffer vest)

If you don't have a worn chambray button up then let this be your first purchase of the season. Dressed up with a pencil skirt, casual with a pair of striped shorts on warm days or layered with a tee and/or sweater this shirt can be used so many ways. (Shown: JCrew Everyday Chambray)

Worn chambray tied at the waist with a printed pencil skirt

You know here at Porch Light Studio we're a big fan of prints (and mixing prints) and our favorites are a classic gingham or stripe.

(Shown: JCrew Classic fit gingham, currently 40% of with code BIGSALE)

stripes, denim, grey and camo

Distressed denim is easily found these days in all price points, we love a good distressed denim dressed up with a blazer and heels as shown below or on an errands day with converse and a comfy hoodie. A few favorite distressed denims: JCrew, Frye at Anthropologie, Gap w/ Destruction

It's true that my closet has more cardigans than Mr Rogers ever wore but they're such versitle layering pieces. Grey is most often found and we've linked the basic version but we like them in ALL styles. (Shown: JCrew)

You can never go wrong with a bootie, these cute wraparound booties are by Free People and this brand will last forever. I've worn a grey pair year round for 2-3 years (shown below but no longer available) and I'm considering having them resoled soon, they get beautifully worn over time and are really comfortable.

Again with the cardigans but with this detailing I couldn't pass it up. (Shown JCrew)

Finally, a camo in either a chino or a jacket is a fun print to add to your closet. Mix your patterns by pairing it with a striped shirt or if you're not ready to go that bold stick to your new chambray shirt. (Shown: Anthropologie) Our Pinterest board is full of camo looks, so many ways to style this fun print!
